I've been wanting to replace the fabric on our Carefree of Colorado awning for a couple of years now, but I worried it'd be a difficult and expensive job. I decided to take the plunge this week when staying in our travel trailer at a friend's home and I was disgusted at the appearance and condition of our awning fabric when I rolled it out.

I could hardly believe I could order a genuine Carefree of Colorado replacement fabric here on Amazon for about the same price anywhere else on the Internet AND have it delivered via next day air for only $3.99 using Prime shipping! It arrived the next day as promised rolled up and sealed in a large heavy-wall cardboard roll tube.

My wife and I prepped, removed the old fabric, and installed the new fabric in about 2 hours by carefully following the instructions found in the Carefree of Colorado service manual for our awning which can be found on their website. There was no need to remove the awning from the travel trailer. Note that fabric replacement instructions were NOT included with our shipment.

Removal of the old fabric is an easy 2 person job. Installation is a bit tougher, but still relatively easy if you're physically fit and able to repeatedly climb a ladder. You'll need two step ladders and 4 people to make the installation go smoothly. 2 people are needed to pull the fabric into the mounting channels (one on the awning roller tube and one up at the mounting channel on the travel trailer) and 2 other people assisting to guide the fabric into the channel openings. This may sound vague or confusing without seeing it done, but it'll be obvious when the time comes. YouTube has some videos of awning replacements that might also be helpful.

The new fabric and valance fit and look beautiful. The new material seems like it might be slightly thicker than that the original fabric. We're very pleased.
