We wanted a better option to the portable DVD players we have been using in the vehicle the last few years. This was definitely the way to go to upgrade. We purchased two of the CLD902 so that each could play a different movie rather than one being the player and the other being just a monitor. The grandchildren are 9, 3, and 2 years old so the viewing habits are different. The units have been in use about 3 weeks and we are very happy with them. The unit remembers what scene was playing last when turned off so the movie doesn't start over from the beginning every time it is turned back on. This is a big plus for short trips! The 9" screen is easily viewed from the 3rd row seating in our SUV. The headrest has adjustable tilt so it can be moved to an easy viewing angle for each child. The picture is great and the sound plenty loud enough. Not sure what purpose the remote control would serve. All controls are touch screen, no buttons to stick out and gumped up by sticky little fingers.
We opted for professional installation at a local dealer which took about 3 hours and cost $230 but it was worth it. I am confident I could have done it myself in the driveway but it is really hot out there right now. We used about $200 in Amazon credits from trading in some old cell phones, so actually we got 2 for the price of one when we ordered the units. So the installation cost wasn't a problem.
Because we got the 9" screen, the headrests are wider than the orginals and there is no clearance between the unit and the seat belt support on the top of the seat. (2005 Chevy Trailblazer) This may make moving the headrest up and down a problem but it seems to be set good enough to still offer protection in a colision. The tan color included in the box does not exactly match the Chevy tan interior, but I understand I could special order an exact match if that was important to me (it isn't).
Amazon Prime shipping was quick and easy as always. Everything arrived in good shape. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to get the "built in" look. After alot of research, the Concept products outperform the more expensive units in my opinion. Do your own comparisons at a local dealer before spending more money than you need to.
